iPhone only, on iOS 26.5 or later. There is no iPad app, no Mac app, no Android app, no Apple Watch app, and no web version. If any of those arrive they will be announced. None is promised.

They stay on your phone. Recordings are never uploaded and never synced, not even to your own iCloud.

Speech is recognized on the iPhone itself wherever the device supports on-device recognition, which covers all eight launch languages on supported iPhones. Only the resulting transcript text is sent out, so it can come back as a tidy entry, and it is sent with no user id attached. The full account is on the privacy page.

Yes, through your own iCloud. When iCloud is on for your iPhone, your entries, to-dos, creations, and weekly letters sync through your own private iCloud database, so the journal follows you to a new phone. Burrow Studio cannot read that database.

Recordings are the exception. They never sync and never leave the phone they were made on, so a new phone gets every written entry but not the audio. If iCloud is off, the journal stays on this phone only. Markdown export works at any time either way.

Yes. Turn on the lock in Settings, under Privacy, and Margo asks for Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode each time you come back to it. iOS does the check, so the app never sees your face or fingerprint. The lock also hides the journal in the app switcher, and turning it on makes notifications private, so no entry shows on the Lock Screen.

Reminders are yours to set. You choose how many a day, from 1 to 24, and the hours they are spread across (9:00–21:00 unless you change it). The evening one looks after your streak. You can change them or turn them off in Settings at any time.

The streak counts the days you wrote anything, answers to Margo’s questions included. You can pick a goal of 7, 14, 30, or 50 days, and the streak page shows the month as a calendar. The streak sends nothing on its own. With reminders off, nothing about it reaches your phone.

Nothing breaks. One missed day each calendar week is covered automatically by a rest day, so a single skip never ends a streak. Miss more than that and a new streak starts with your next entry.

If reminders are on and you step away for longer, Margo sends a short series of comeback reminders, further and further apart, and stops sending them entirely after 30 days.

No. Margo is a journal with a companion that asks questions. It is not a medical or therapy service, and nothing it writes is advice.

If an entry speaks of self-harm or crisis, Margo answers with care, points you to a directory of helplines at findahelpline.com, asks no question, and never brings it up again. If you are going through something heavy, please reach out to someone you trust or to a local helpline. If you are in danger, call your local emergency number.

No. Transcript text is sent to a structuring service to write the entry, and it is not used for model training. It carries no account id, so there is nothing attached to it that identifies you.

Everything that leaves the phone travels over an encrypted connection. The recordings of your own voice never leave at all. On the phone, entries and audio sit in the app’s own storage, which iOS keeps separate from other apps and protects with your passcode. If you sync, the journal sits in your private iCloud database under your Apple Account. And if you want one more door, the app can lock with Face ID.

Eight at launch: English, German, French, Spanish, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Finnish. You speak one, and the entry comes back in it.

You can also have your journal written in a different language than the one you spoke, and translate a finished entry into around 140 languages. Both of those are part of Plus.

Everything that makes Margo a journal is free forever. The companion’s question after every entry, open questions coming back, reminders, streaks, and the weekly letter are not paid features and never will be.

Your first entry every day is always free, so a streak never meets a paywall. On top of that, free gives you 15 extra entries per calendar month, recordings up to 3 minutes, and creations on 3 entries in total. Answering one of Margo’s questions never counts as an entry. Plus raises the limits. It does not unlock the companion.

Unlimited entries, as many a day as you like, recordings up to 12 minutes, creations on every entry, translation into around 140 languages, speaking one language and writing the journal in another, and importing audio files. Plus sells room, not the companion.

Through Apple, not through Margo. Open the Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Margo, then Cancel Subscription.

You keep Plus until the end of the period you already paid for. Refunds are handled by Apple.

Delete all data, at the bottom of Settings, erases every entry, recording, and to-do, on the phone and in your iCloud, and Margo starts over.

Delete account, on the Account page (the button at the top of Home), removes your account, the email address, and the records kept for it on Burrow Studio’s servers, then erases the journal the same way. Neither can be undone.
